This recipe turned out far different than I thought it was going to. For one thing, my sloppy joes aren't usually sweet. I think this one is because of the ketchup. So, if you're like me, and don't care for sweet sloppy joes, I'd recommend swapping out the ketchup for tomato sauce.
Ingredients List:
2 tablespoons Olive Oil
1 lb Ground Beef
3 cloves Garlic (minced)
1 Green Bell Pepper (diced)
1 Onion (diced)
2 teaspoons Chili Powder
Salt and Pepper
3 1/2 cups Beef Broth
12 oz Elbow Macaroni
2/3 cup Ketchup
1 tablespoon Mustard
1 tablespoon Brown Sugar
Hot Sauce to taste
2 1/2 cups grated Cheddar Cheese
Fresh Parsley (to garnish)
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
When the oil is hot, add the ground beef, garlic, bell peppers, and onions.
Season with chili powder, salt, and pepper.
Cook, crumbling beef as you go until cooked through 6-8 minutes.
Add the beef broth, macaroni, ketchup, mustard, brown sugar, and hot sauce.
Stir to combine.
Bring to a simmer
Cover and cook until the macaroni is soft and the sauce is thick, 9-10 minutes.
Remove from heat, add cheese, and stir until melted.
Garnish with parsley.
